Teacher's Challenge Blog

Love this blog...Teacher's Challenge. It provides a daily challenge for teachers to use PLNs, Web 2.0 tools, etc.  I have been following it for about six months and it has really provided me with some good resources.  Believe it or not, it has actually challenged me to implement some of the ideas in my classroom. Check out the sidebar on the left for ideas...

One of my favorites is ClassTools.  I even bought the subscription.  It has a lot of useful tools.  My favorite tool is the random name picker that acts as either a "fruit machine" (okay...it is a slot machine but we cannot use that term in school) or a typewriter wherein you enter the students' names and it randomly picks a name.  This is so much better than the craft sticks with names that I draw from a cup.  My students LOVE this...they beg for it every time I go for the drawing sticks.  However, I do not use it every time...it is a treat.

A Must-Have Internet Tool: Managing Three Summer Classes with a LiveBinder

Okay, so I have began my summer with absolute chaos.  I already need a vacation...

This summer semester, I am enrolled in three online classes.  One would think I am crazy, but I am not...just DETERMINED!  Therefore, organization and time management is a must.  One thing that has taken me a while to get used to is that every class resource is online.  I am traditionally a student from back in the day when you had a notebook, textbook, pen, pencil, handouts and calendar in your backpack. Well, this is not back in the day any more and it is taking me some time getting used to it.

With that said, I have found an exciting internet tool to help me feel like I am still that traditional student and it helps me stay organized online...a LiveBinder. LiveBinders is a website where you can build your own online binder/notebook.  You can create tabs and subtabs and upload documents and webpages...all in one online notebook. You can make your LiveBinder public or keep it private.

AN ADDED BONUS: Besides creating your own LiveBinder for your own use, you can view thousands of public LiveBinders that have been created on specific subjects such as "iPads in the Classroom".  One of my favorite LiveBinders that has a enormous toolbox of internet tools for teachers is CybraryMan...check it out!

I hope that this bit of information on one of my favorite internet tools/websites is helpful to you.  Let me know what you think....
